Cyber Terrorism 2009 - Event details

07/29/2009 - 07/30/2009 SOUTH AFRICAN RESERVE BANK CONFERENCE CENTRE, Pretoria, SOUTH AFRICA  (Gauteng)

Description
The term Cyber Terrorism is becoming increasingly common, in the popular culture, yet the definition of the words seem hard to come by. While the phrase is loosely defined, there is a large amount of subjectivity in what exactly constitutes Cyber Terrorism.

Cyber Terrorism is the convergence of terrorism and cyberspace. It is understood to mean unlawful attacks and threats against computers, networks and the information stored therein when doe to intimidate or coerse a government or company for financial, political or social objectives.

Further to qualify as Cyber Terrorism, an attack should result in violence against a person or property, or at least cause enough harm to generate fear. Serious attacks against critical infrastructure could be acts of Cyber Terrorism, depending on their impact.

This event will allow delegates from the public and private sector to learn and understand Cyber Terrorism, the offender, the criminal mind and ultimately prevention of Cyber Terrorism and what does the law say about Cyber Terrorism.
