Founded by the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA), the World Wind Energy Conference is an internationally recognized annual event that draws delegates from public and private sectors around the world.
WWEC 2008 will build on past successes and provide a lively forum for global leaders and innovators to meet, discuss, and exchange ideas and experiences in the renewable and community power sector.
In the summer of 2008, the 7th World Wind Energy Conference (WWEC) will be held at the St. Lawrence College campus in Kingston, Ontario. Situated within one of the fastest growing renewable energy markets in Canada, the 2008 WWEC agenda will represent all renewable energy technologies for electricity generation and has been structured to address challenges, opportunities and best practices within international renewable and community power sectors.
The programme theme, Community Power, refers to the ownership and development of renewable energy projects by local communities: farmers, cooperatives, first nations, municipalities, universities, colleges and utilities. In order to reflect the key role of renewable community power in future energy and climate strategies, topics will include:
