Abdominal Ultrasound - Event details   12/01/2008 - 12/05/2008 ADVANCED HEALTH EDUCATION CENTER, Houston, USA  (Texas)   Description This five-day program is directed toward general abdominal procedures including the superficial organs. An integrated approach of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on scanning experience with models, and correlation of ultrasound appearance of normal versus abnormal tissues is used. The basics of instrumentation and the physics of ultrasound, relating to maximizing the image are reinforced in the laboratory. The class is from 8 AM to 5 PM with a lunch hour. A variety of ultrasound equipment is available in the scan lab. A complete two-week program can be accomplished with this course followed by the five day OB/GYN Ultrasound course. Objectives At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to: - Utilize the principles of instrumentation to set up ultrasound equipment for scanning. - Recognize and identify the organ systems of the abdomen on an ultrasound image. - Perform basic ultrasound procedures on the abdomen patient. - Understand pathological variants and their influence in the ultrasound procedure. - Follow the sequence of an abdominal ultrasound procedure from the beginning to its conclusion. Target Audience Physicians who are at the entry level of ultrasound scanning and interpretation. Sonographers or other health professionals learning abdominal ultrasound or cross training.
