11th Australian Conference on Knowledge Management and Intelligent Decision Support, 2008 - Event details   12/08/2008 - 12/10/2008 UNIVERSITY OF BALLARAT, Ballarat, AUSTRALIA   Description ACKMIDS has been organised by the Knowledge Management Research Program (KMRP) since 1998. In 2008, ACKMIDS will be jointly organised by the Centre for Community Networking Research (Monash University); and the University of Ballarat (through its research centres, CeCC, CRIC & CIAO). We will explore the issues emerging from the type of beneficial collaboration that can be derived from the exploitation of ICTs and knowledge management jointly. It will energise community managers, policy makers at all levels of government, and researchers with their current thinking about practice of KM and community informatics. This year the conference theme is: "Harnessing Knowledge Management to Build Communities" We study both technological and organisational/managerial challenges associated with introducing KM into enterprises. We have and are conducting a number of projects which apply and refine the theoretical models proposed. The conference provides an arena for discussing current approaches to the way people and organizations work with knowledge. The ACKMIDS conference aims to facilitate an active exchange of ideas between academia and practice. The conference offers participants an opportunity to generate and explore ideas and to share their experiences within the Australian knowledge management community. While focused on the Australian community, the conference has long enjoyed international participation from Europe, Asia and the USA.
