Business and Education Conference - Event details   03/04/2009 - 03/05/2009 ACADEMY FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, Washington D.C., USA  (DC - District of Columbia)   Description There are several truths at work in today's marketplace including: Corporations recognize that their most important asset is their employees; increasingly, those employees are more diverse and may have been educated in a region or country different from where they work; senior executives are concerned about finding the best talent to fill their employee ranks; and, there is significant concern about the existing educational system to prepare students to be workforce ready both in the United States and in other countries. To deal with these truths, corporations are investing significant resources — both dollars and time — to make improvements in the educational system and in training their own workforce so as to assure workforce preparedness of the global population. The Conference Board is designing this high-level conference to discuss what the current workforce situation is; what are the strategies that existing institutions are taking to increase workforce readiness; and why an overall program that addresses both the home country and global need is important to companies operating in the flat world.
