XIX Regional Congress, Eastern Mediterranean, of the International Society of Blood Transfusion - Event details   03/21/2009 - 03/25/2009 CAIRO INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTRE (CICC), Cairo, EGYPT   Description For the first time, an ISBT Regional Congress will be held in the Middle East. The Local Organizing Committee is planning to commit for a state of the art scientific program which will include all the subjects that interest all workers in blood transfusion services. A range of highly reputable international and regional speakers and experts in the blood transfusion field will be invited to deliver the up-to-date information and knowledge to the participants. The local organizing committee is dedicated to provide a spectacular social program in Cairo and amazing trips in the whole of Egypt to the participants and their accompanying persons. The Ministry of Health & Population in Egypt has taken major steps in upgrading and restructuring the blood transfusion services to match and support other health services in the country. The national blood policy, plan, and standards are already implemented and monitored. The national blood donor program is progressing towards 100% voluntary non remunerated regular donation and phasing out family replacement donations. The blood services under MOH&P is already centralized and working according to the national policy.
