The first congresses on Asperger’s Syndrome were undertaken in Barcelona and Oporto in 2006. Both of them were a forum of basic and referential exhibition on this disorder, their etiology, causes, circumstances, prevalence, diagnosis and intervention from a multidisciplinary point of view.
Due to their success regarding attendance and the level reached in the communications, the II International Congress Sevilla 2009 tries to combine the efforts of the associations from Spain and Portugal with the following objectives:
Favor collaboration and contact between professionals who, although from different disciplines and diverse research fields, converge in the study of this pathology.
Expose the most recent research lines, whose results can be relevant on the understanding of this disorder and the most suitable interventions (pharmacological, educative, psychological, contextual, sistemic) through the new communication technologies (TIC), etc.
Focus the contents of the interventions on the Asperger’s Syndrome as a nosological organization and differentiated from others, as recognized in the DSMIV and the CIE10. In this aspect, and without dealing with depth the different classification proposals of the TGD nor the utility of the existence of the term “Autistic Spectrum”, the objective is the Asperger’s Syndrome itself; or in any case, the zone of the spectrum of the TEA without mental delay, with good language level and social interests.
