Maritime Homeland Security Summit

Maritime Homeland Security Summit - Event details

04/27/2009 - 04/30/2009 TBA, Miami Beach, USA  (Florida)

Description
Maritime threats present a serious and realistic danger to the safety and security of the United States and to the stability of international trade. More than 80 percent of the world's trade travels by water and forges a global maritime link; yet ports, waterways, and shorelines remain relatively unguarded. Increased intelligence integration and situational awareness combined with well planned prevention and recovery procedures diminish the risk and mitigate the impact of a potential attack.

As the Maritime Community defines priorities, builds partnerships, and modernizes capabilities, it is vital to disseminate these advances to all stakeholders. MHS brings together policy makers, DoD and DHS leaders, law enforcement, and solutions providers to exchange and share best practices and opportunities to improve the security of our Nation's maritime borders.

Specific Themes for 2009 include:

- DoD and DHS Acquisition Strategy and Capabilities for Maritime Security and Maritime Domain Awareness
- Maritime Domain Awareness
- Situational Awareness/Intelligence Integration
- Coordinated Maritime Security Integration and Partnerships
- DHS/DoD/Law Enforcement relationship and responsibilities
